Why we are supporting Billy and his family for a year
As most of you know, Billy Wilkerson and Ron Bailey were nearly killed by a drunk driver on July 31st. The paramedics found them both unconscious and not breathing. They were able to keep them alive and bring them to the hospital. The details of their story and stay at the hospital have been dutifully recorded by Billy's sister Stephanie (http://ronbilly.blogspot.com/).
Fortunately, Billy was able to recover enough to be sent to the Shepherd's Center in Atlanta. However, the Shepherd's Center is for patients with traumatic brain injury. Billy suffered brain damage from the accident.
On September 30th Billy was released from the Shepherd center to continue his recovery on his own. Billy and Jill have been staying with his sister and brother-in-law Stephanie and Levi Lowrey.
Billy is unable to work right now because of his brain injury and Jill is unable to give Billy and their two children the attention they need while working a full time job. Many of you have already generously given to help keep Billy and Jill afloat. However, without continued support or revenue from work, the money will soon be exhausted.
So, we decided to eliminate any stress from housing or bills for one year. Our goal is to provide Bill, Jill, and their two kids (Evie and Dawson) housing, utilities, phone, internet, and lawn maintenance for one year. We want them to have the space and freedom they need to heal and prepare for their new life together.
